Dr. Donald Wood is a distinguished Emergency Medicine physician with over two decades of experience in clinical practice, medical education, and leadership. He earned his medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in 1997, followed by an Emergency Medicine Residency at Ohio University, where he was honored as Chief Resident in his final two years.
Dr. Wood is a board-certified Emergency Medicine specialist, recognized as a diplomate by both the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine. He holds active medical licenses in multiple states, including Florida, Ohio, Montana, Virginia, and Georgia, with Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas in process. Additionally, maintains numerous certifications in basic, advanced, and pediatric life support, as well as advanced trauma life support.
Currently, Dr. Wood serves as the EMS Director for Martin County Fire Rescue and holds significant roles at Cleveland Clinic Martin Health, including Chief of Emergency Medicine and Medical Director. His previous roles include Regional Medical Director for Sheridan Healthcare and Chief of Emergency Medicine at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, a Level 1 Trauma Center.
In academia, Dr. Wood is a Clinical Professor at Lincoln Memorial University and has previously held teaching positions at The Ohio State University and Marietta College. He has played pivotal roles in medical education as a Residency Program Director and has been involved in writing and reviewing questions for the National Medical Board Examination. Dr. Wood has been recognized with numerous awards for his service and contributions, including the Physician of the Year and multiple Guardian Angel Awards from Cleveland Clinic Martin Health. He is an active member of professional societies such as the National Association of EMS Physicians and the American Association for Physician Leadership.
Throughout his career, Dr. Wood has been committed to improving patient care and advancing the field of emergency medicine through his leadership, education, and clinical expertise. He continues to contribute to medical knowledge through presentations at national conferences and workshops, sharing his insights and experience with the broader medical community.
